1949 – 1959 11-year secondary school in Prešov 1959 – 1961 post-secondary course – technical school for geodesists in Košice 1956 – 1960 employment with the Prešov amateur theatre 1962 relocation to Bratislava 1962 – 1968 Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Slovak High Technical School (graduated in 1968, engineer degree) 1963 – 1966 member of the amateur band Struny (Strings) 1967 singer of the band Istropolitana; co-founder of the formation Blues Five, with whom he appeared at the 2nd Czechoslovak beat festival in Prague 1968 – 1970, 1972 – 1977 editor in the Czechoslovak Radio (science and technology desk, later music programmes) 1970 – 1971 member of Gustav Offremann Combo 1973 – 1975 private classes of singing with Prof. František Tugendlieb 1972 – 1977 member of the Revival Jazz Band from 1974 organiser and programme director of Bratislava Jazz Days 1976 – 1978 post-graduate studies of journalism at the Faculty of Arts of the Comenius University in Bratislava since 1977 free-lance; founded the Peter Lipa Combo (P. Lipa – vocals, Peter Breiner – piano, Stano Herko – bass guitar, Cyril Zeleňák – drums), with whom he appeared at the BJD 1977 1980 – 1986 Lipa – Andršt Blues Band (P. Lipa – vocals, Luboš Andršt – guitar, CZ) 1985 – 1987 member of a duo with Peter Breiner (piano) 1986 – 1995 member of a group focusing on traditional jazz T + R Band from 1989 president of the Slovak Jazz Society from 1992 lectures singing at Jazz workshops organised by the Slovak Jazz Society 1997 participation at the Jazz Vocal Workshop in Bologna (IT); co-organiser of the Jazz Polička festival (since 1997, CZ) 1997 – 1998 Lipa – Šeban Band (P. Lipa – vocals, Andrej Šeban – guitar, Juraj Tatár – keyboards, Martin Gašpar – bass guitar, Marcel Buntaj – drums), after departure of Andrej Šeban the band was renamed to Peter Lipa & Band (with Michal Žáček – saxophone, flute)
